TERRORIST IN WALES.
IRISHMAN’S PLANS OF TREACHERY. A HEAVY SENTENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 18, 8.30 p.m. London, Nov. 17. Connolly, the organiser of the South Wales branch of the Irish Self-Deter-mination League, found guilty of hoarding revolvers, pistols, blasting cartridges, gelignite, and a large quantity of high explosives, was sentenced to servitude for fourteen years. He was found to be in possession also of a document showing the plans of six powder magazines in Merthyr. Evans, , and Kate Evans, his wife, and Thomas Tliurney were sentenced to seven years, and Donoghue to four years. Judge McCardie said' the prisoners repaid the hospitality of the Welsh people with treachery and crime. He had seen the plans of Welsh buildings which the prisoners proposed to destroy. The day was not distant when Ireland would recall with shame the foul deeds committed in her name. Connolly replied that he was actuated by the highest motives. When he came out of prison he would rush to the aid of his country if it still needed him.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
