WANGANUI SHOW.

PEOPLE’S DAY. JL LARGE ATTENDANCE. i Drizzling rain fell at Wanganui early yesterday morning, but this soon cleared, and was followed by a warm, sunny day, so that there was a very large attendance for People's Day at the Wanganui Show. The scene was a very animated one, particularly during the grand parade, which was marshalled by Mr. J. T. Sinclair. The judging of the remaining classes was completed early. Considerable interest was manifested in the ring events, iu which Taranaki again scored freely. During the afternoon the Queen Alexandra Band, under Lieut. Buckley, rendered a fine programme of music. There was a large number of side-shows, many of which were very interesting. Among those present at the show were Messrs. Washer (president of the Egmont A. and P. Show) and E. H. Liunell (of the Stratford A. and P. Show executive). Mr. C. H. Washer (Hawera) acted as judge of the light horse classes and jumping competition, whilst Mr. F. Mills acted in a similar capacity in the Ayrshires. Additional results: HORSES. THOROUGHBRED. HOME INDUSTRIES. In the home industries section there weie several exhibits from Taranaki, and some prizes came this way. Li needlework Miss L. Carroll (Midhirst) was very highly coinmended In a big class for men’s knitted socks. Miss McPherson (Hawera) secured first and second for the most handsome .and best-worked cushion; Miss I. O. McCutchan, formerly of Kohuiatahi, was first with crochet camisole, and Miss W. Tichbon, of New Plymouth, was third with the prettiest handbag. In the primary school classes Miss M. Willcocks, of Hawera, was third in sewing for pupils under 15. In cookery, Miss M. Oughton, of Okaiawa, obtained a first for a seed cake, and also' for shortbread, whilst Mrs. A. Vlnten, of Hawera, was third in currant loaf and home-made pickles, and second in bottled fruits. * Mrs. E. J. Brittain, of Cambridge, and formerly of Waiongona, also scored. ‘ COMPETITIONS.
