MAORI WOMAN’S DEATH.
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. By Telegraph—-Press Association. Blenheim, Last Night. An inquest concerning the death of Rose Stafford, a Maori woman, 26 years of age, who died from injuries received in an accident which occurred on the Spring Creek road on September 24, was held to-day. The coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from injuries received in a collision between a trap driven by her and a motor-car driven by John Emlyn Thomas. The coroner said the evidence showed negligence on the part of Thomas. There was also some evidence that Thomas was drunk while in charge of the car, but as this was contradicted it was not conclusive. In view of possible further proceedings the corner would make no further comment.
