MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 17, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 16. Lord Rovar (late Governor-General of Australia), Sir James Allen, Mr. Shepherd, Mr. J. M. Hunter (Queensland), Sir J. D. Connolly (West Australia), and Mr. A. H. Ashbolt (Tasmania), attended the inaugural meeting of the Empire Forestry Association at the Guildhall. Resolutions were passed in favor of a z determined effort towards the extension of an Empire-wide constructive forest policy under which the Empire’s sylvan resources would be scientifically conserved and prudently exploited for the mutual benefit of the people of the Empire. Major Edward Wood, M.P. (Undersecretary for the Colonies) assured the promoters of the desire or the Colonial Office to support the supplemental educational work of the association aiming at the co-ordination of forestry development throughout the Empire. Mr. A. H. Asnholt pointed out that the association intended . to make ita educational work practical. It was decided to limit the forthcoming exhibition of the Empire’s timbers at the Imperial Institute to timbers available in commercial quantities and at prices which can compete with foreign timbers.
