GUILTY OF BOOKMAKING.
CHRISTCHURCH CASES By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Thomas Long was found guilty on a charge of having carried on the business of a bookmaker. The jury made the strong-, est recommendation to mercy. Sentence was deferred. Fred Dacre was found guilty of carrying on the business of a bookmaker, with a strong recommendation to mercy.. “I miglj't say on behalf of the jury,’’ added the foreman, “that none of them thought it was serious.” Sentence was’ deferred till Friday.
