Jennings (Waitomo), the Hon. J. G. Coates said the question of licenses to use wireless apparatus was at present under review, owing to the fact that certain improved instruments had rather changed the official outlook since the present regulations were drawn up. Replying to Mr. G. W. Forbes (Hurunui), the Hon W. Nosworthy said he would consider the question of calling a conference of rabbit boards to discuss the present and other methods of reducing/ the rabbit pest. Replying to Mr. E. Kellett (Dunedin North), the Hon. J. G. Coates said the question of letting southern towns have their letters via the Vancouver service delivered earlier was not new, and was extremely difficult to solve. He could not look hopefully towards an aeroplane service, but he would again go into the matter in an effort to find a way out. Replying to Mr. W. H. Field (Otaki), Mr Massey said the great difficulty in getting what was known as Imperial preference for our meat was that it was extremely unlikely the people of Britain would agree to pay taxes on food. Replying to Mr. T. D. Burnett (Temuka), Mr. Massey said that if the Disarmament Conference sitting at Washington agreed to a reduction of armaments there was no doubt that such a decision would have the effect of reducing the cost of defence in all ‘parts of the Empire. As soon as he knew what the conference had agreed to he would make a statement to the House on the subject. Replying to Mr. T. M. Wilford (Leader of the Opposition), Mr. Massey said he would consult with his colleagues as to what had been done to give Syrians civil rights, and what, was the best course to pursue with regard to them in the future. The debate on the Budget occupied the remainder of the sitting, and the House rose at 11.30 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
