| NEW PLYMOUTH V. WAITARA. At Waitara on Saturday, in the A grade fixture (briefly reported yesterday), Waitara defeated New Plymouth by 90 runs to 77. Batting first and making 90 the Waitara side showed fine form, Ross 21 and Kingston 35 both playing good cricket. For New Plymouth, Clarke and Nicoil bowled unchanged. The visitors opened well, and with three for 57 it looked as if they had the match well in hand, but Ross, with a fine average of six wickets for 12 runs, including the nat trick, quite spoilt the chance of New Plymouth. For the town team Sheppard, who went in first, played a fine innings for 34, while Nicoil and Staintou both made useful stands. The fielding on both sides was good. .Nicoil (New Plymouth) bringing off two fine catches in the slips. Sheppard held a difficult one-hand catch, and Bragg caught an awkward ball which, dismissed Kingston. Details are as follow: WAITARA.
