WOOL INDUSTRY.

POSITION AT BRADFORD. SIGNS OF IMPROVEMENT, By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. London, Nov. 8. The Yorkshire Observer (Bradford) states that there are distinct signs of a general improvement in the wool textile trade which, if only slight, are encouraging. Exhaustive inquiries show that, while those sections concerned with the raw material in some of the earlier processes of manufacture are busy, the manufacturing, dyeing and finishing sections do not show much difference from the worst stage of the slump. The wool-sorting section is most active, the position regarding unemployment therein being described as bettar' than normal. In the section of wool-combing uealing with merinos there is full employment, while spinners, particularly of Botany qualities, are well supplied with orders. Some large manufacturing firms are running their mills full time and others five days a week, but generally only two or three days are worked. The register of unemployment in Bradford contains 1900 names and is likely to increase before the end of the year, but it is not probable the number will again reach the June record of 58,000.
