YESTERDAY’S SITTING. PROGRESS OF MEASURES. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, Last Night. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. On the motion of the Hon. W. D. Stewart the Animals Protection and Game Bill was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. The Motor Vehicles Bill was referred to. a special committee set up to consider it, and the Local Bodies Finance Bill was referred to the Public Accounts Committee.

Replying to Mr. 11. E Holland (Buller), the Hon. J. G. Coates said that on Government relief works work was so calculated that a man working a. normal day could earn ten shillings. If men chose to use improved methods or to exercise greater initiative it was possible for them to earn more than ten shillings a day. The House went into committee on the Cook Island Amendment Bill, which was reported without amendment, read a third time and passed.

The Orchard Tax Amendment Bill, extending the original Act for a period of five years, was read a second time after a brief debate.

The House rose at 11.10 p.m. till 2.3 G p.m. to-morrow.
