GREAT BUSH FIRES.

VAST AREAS DESTROYED. LOSS OF LIFE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Nov. 7, 10.25 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 7. Vast areas in the west are still swept by fire. One block estimated at 20,000 square miles is aflame, and altogether millions of acres have been devastated. Details so far are meagre, but is is known that the damage is enormous. The first life lost has been reported from Cardiebio, where a returned slodier was burned to death while saving his wife and two children. One child escaped by digging its way into a rabbit warren. Three sleepercutters in the same district are missing. It is believed that most of the fires originated through railway fettlers burning off. Received Nov. 7, 10.25 pan. Adelaide, Nov. 7.
