WED THROUGH GLASS. In order to prevent the scarlet fever which the bride had contracted reaching the bridegroom and the officiating clergyman, Miss Kate O'Brien, of Philadelphia, and Charles Barker, of Vancouver, were married at Moosejaw by the Rev. Father O’Brien through a sheet of glass. Miss O’Brien had left Philadelphia a week previously to be married at Vancouver, but contracted fever en route, and bad to leave the train at Moosejaw. Mr. Barker left for Moosejaw at once on learning of the trouble, and insisted that there be no postponement of the wedding. The girl was accordingly moved to a special room, and a speaking tube was inserted in the wall for the priest who received the assents of the bride by nods of the head. BETTER CLASS MOTOR CHEAPER. A writer in Modern Transport states that “the cost of operating and maintaining a motor may safely be estimated at three farthings a mile in favor of a better eias# vehicle.” The British build “Dennis” is a high-class lorry.
