A large number of prisoners in the central gaol at Lahore rushed the main gate, secured the keys from the warder and attacked the armory. The guard fired and killed three and wounded several. Some of the warders received flight injuries. The outbreak was sup pressed. New York, Nov. 1. Alfred Seigel, a song writer, has sued Dempsey for 100,000 dollars on the ground that he has alienated the affections of his wife, Bee Palmer, a noted variety actress. Dempsey filed an answer denying the charges. He admitted that he appeared in the theatrical company of which Bee Palmer was a member but said he was not unduly friendly with her. Bee Palmer is now suing her husband for a divorce in Chicago on the ground of cruelty, claiming that her husband is jealous of every man who applauds her dancing. Washington, Nov. 1. President Harding, in a Thanksgiving Day proclamation, declared that the opportunity lor great service awaits the United States if it proves equal to it under God. “Our responsibility is great to our won first and to all men i afterwards.” I [Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on tho last Thursday in November.]
