Returns in connection with the municipal elections received up to midnight indicate that the Independents and Labor are gaining heavily at the expense of the Liberals and Conservatives, but the Labor gains are disproportionate to the number of candidates submitted. More than 350 were defeated. Women gained many seats. Communists unsucices&fully contested four seats in Glasgow, the candidates including John McNeil.
