NEW ZEALAND’S BISLEY.
PROTEST AT CANCELLATION. RIFLEMEN DISAPPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Aiineiatlnr Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Marshall, chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Clubs Executive, speaking about the decision not to hold a Dominion Rifle Association meeting in March next, stated that the unexpected news would come as a great disappointment to riflemen, as arrangements had been made for next year’s meeting to be one of the most important for many years. The Australian authorities had announced their intention of sending a team to compete. In addition the Gordon Highlanders’ inter-State match would be fired at Trentham next March. Mr. Marshall stated that in the chainpionship belt matches last year at all ranges up to 600 yards the “tin hat” target, which was used for the King’s Prize at Bisley, and which was adopted by the British Army authorities as the “standard service target for the British Army”, was used, thus evidence was supplied of the Dominion Association justifying its existence.
