POLICE COURT CASES. By Telegraph—Press Association. 'Auckland, Nov. 2. In the Police Court, William Compton was charged with the theft of goods valued at £450 from the wharf sheds. He was stated to be a man of good character. He had assisted to recover a large amount of the stolen goods. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Lieutenant Wm. Reeve, of the New Zealand forces, admitted, a charge v/c theft of stores from an annex-. It yras stated that he had control of £3fl),000 worth of goods, bore a good chakracter, and was in ill-health. Ho was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, to pay the costs, and to pay £3B to the person who innocently bought some, of the stolen property. Christchurch, Nov. 2. At the Magistrate’s.’ Court, Oscar Trice, aged 26. who was charged with having attempted to discharge a loaded g-.m at "Albert Newton, his employer, and Annie. Duncan, a fellow employee., at Kaituna,.oh October 22, pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial before the Supreme Court.
