BOXING.

TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. SUCCESS OF RECENT TOURNAMENT. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held at the Soldiers’ Club last night, when Mr. E. Jackson (deputy chairman) presided over a large attendance of members. The secretary reported that the recent tournament would show a profit of between £2O And £3O. The chairman congratulated members of the committee on the way in which all had worked towards the success achieved. The splendid patronage, representative of all parts of Taranaki, showed that the association had the confidence of the public, and as long as they continued to conduct matters on the same square lines they would continue to hold that ioufidence. He paid a specia’ tribute to the ■vork of Messrs. Howell and Stephenson in connection with the seating arrangements, each having devoted days to the association’s work. It was resolved to write the Northern Boxing Association thanking them for allowing Mr. Burns to referee at New Plymouth. A committee consisting of Messrs. E. Jackson, J. Garcia, R. Barlow, W. Yardley and E. Whittle was appointed to interview Inglewood enthusiasts in regard to arranging a tournament there at an early date. A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded Messrs. R. Paul, R. Barlow and E. Whittle for their donations at the recent tournament.
