CONTROL OF RUGBY.
THE SCHEME OF MR. J: McLEOD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Plain spoken criticism was indulged in by members of the Wellington Rugby Union to-night on the proposal circularised by the president of the New Zealand Union (Mr. J. McLeod) to affiliated unions for the reconstruction of the management committee of the parent body by the election of delegates outside the metropolis. The chairman (Mr. Prendeville) entered a protest against the writer’s action in departing from the established practice by addressing the unions direct instead of approaching the annual meeting of the Rugby Union. Mr. Griffiths agreed that the matter should have gone to the parent union first. “The laws, whatever we may think of the acts of the present management committee, make the letter outside our function to discuss,” he said.
After further discussion, it was unanimously decided to simply receive the letter.
