MIDDLE EAST.
A NEW FACTORDIVISION OF ALLIES. SUPPORT FOR TURKS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 31, 8.10 p.m. London, Oct. 29. The Australian Press Association learns that the position in the. Near East has been further complicated by the Italian determination to follow France’s attempt to negotiate a separate peace with the Kemalists, to which end a mission has actually reached Angora from Rome. The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says: “We are entitled to the same measure of support that we accorded to France on the Rhine and Italy in the Alps amr Adriatic. The task of defending the Allies' original programme and British interests in the Near East will henceforth devolve upon our own shoulders. France and Italy, by their actual prospective undertakings at Angora, have deprived Britain of their effective military collaboration, and rendered impossible their mediation in the Turco-Greek conflict.
