THE EMPIRE. WEDNESDAY 7 AND THURSDAY. “RUDD’S NEW SELECTION.” Some of the scenes ir» E. J. and Dan Carroll’s latest Australian feature, “Rudd’s New Selection,” which is to show at the Empire this Wednesday and Thursday, are claimed to make a cat laugh and the fun is absolutely uproarious when Dad denounces cold-tea politics at the half-way house, and later, when he is found on the broad of his back outside. the hotel exclaiming, “I was never on the mare.” Then there are Dave’s home-coming from his honeymoon in celluloid cuffs and collars,‘the dough fight in the kitehen between Lil and Sarah. Joe’s practical jokes, the midnight- pranks of the twins, and the inevitable intervention in Dave’s married life of his lean and lanky mother-in-law. There are also some thrills in the dramatic even tragic happenings incidental to Nell’s romance of love and devotion. The scones, settings and general production, which’ was directed by Mr. Raymond Longford, leave absolutely nothing to be desired, and the results to date justify the makers’ contention that “.Rudd s New Selection” is even better than its popular predecessor, “On Our Selection." !As “Rudd’s New Selection” can only be shown here for a two-nights’ season there is certain to be a big demand for seats, and intending patrons who cannot get along early would be wise to secure a seat by reserving at Collier's.
