An enquiry held by the stewards inu> the interference mot with by Morose at the turn in the Roseneath Handicap found that The Emperor intei’fered with Morose in such a way as to prevent the latter from gaining second place. It was resolved that Ares be placed third and Morose second, under the provisions of rule 2, part 25 and rule 15, part ::0, of the Rules of Racing. The inter--1 irer.ee was accidental, no blame being attachable to the riders.
NOTkIS ON THE RUNNING. (Special to Daily News.) Wellington, Oct. 29. The day’s racing began with the Roseneath Handicap. Enthusiasm led at the start from Morose, who got away badly, but soon ran up to the leader. The pair approached the course together, but Enthusiasm sent Morose out wide and Bumptious catne through. Bumptious went on to win nicely by three lengths. Ares finished well and was second, a length ahead of Morose, who just beat The Emperor. The interference with Morose was the subject of an enquiry. Speculators experienced another reverse in the lararua Handicap. Penitent led at the start, but as sonn as the field settled down
Stylish Lady ran to tbe front. Stylish Lady led to the half mile, with Penitent, Danger Zone and Edendale handy. Edendale ran up to Stylish Lady with three furlongs gone, and
the pair carried on in the lead to the home •-••.rn, with lied Bob and Danger Zone ImprovI ing their positions. Stylish Lady was in the j van below tbe distance, when half a dozen ‘ had chances. Red Bob collared the leader at the distance and soon settled her. t Edendale then came at Red Bob, but was shaken off, and over the last bit Cleasanta finished fast, but could mly get within two and a batf l-ngths of Red Bob. Another laugt.i aiid a half away came Edendale, followed by Scion at the head of a bunch. The Hurdles was a very interesting tace throughout. Mill o’ Gowrie led past the stand from Master Boris, Ruddy and Sir Fanciful, with Dick a long way In the rear. Going along the back Master Boris led from Mill o’ Gowrie and Ruddy, and Man.alien improved his position. At the half rnlla Ruddy and Master Boris together were in the lead, but the field was fairly well bunched, and Ruddy and Master Boris were the first to turn for home. Ruddy fell at the last fence, and Kipling took charge, but in the final run Maniahera gathered him up nicely and won by two lengths. Another couple of lengths back came Master Boris, then Kyoto and Sir Fanciful. In the Pearce Handicap, Bagdad got out well at the start, but Blackmail quickly took i rhe lead, followed by Admiral Codrington, with ! Ksperance well back, and at the four furlongs 1 Borealis went up, and on the home bend Bagdad Improved his position. Martial Dawn and Blackmail turned for home in tire lead, but Martial Dawn soon afterwards assumed the lead. Dainty Step showed up at the distance, and, ranging alongside Martial Dawn, defeated him in the final run and won by half a length. Blackmail was another hair length away, and Borealis was close up fourth, among the next to finish being Trespass and Delight. The Juvenile Stakes drew only three starters, and the race was a good thing for Epitaph, who led all the way. She came into tbe straight with a lead of half a dozen lengths and won, easing up, by three lengths from Viyella, who was five lengths ahead of Deborah. The Champion Plate was a much better race than was generally expected. When they lined up Grotesque had the rails, with Radiant Light next, then Amythas, Rouen and Vagabond and Sasanof on the outside. The start was a bad one. Sasanof got the best of it, and Amythas was one of those who got the worst of it. Turning out of the straight Amythas got a bad butnp, but kept his feet well. When thev entered the back stretch Sasanof was .still in the lead, and next to him were Rouen .-nd Amythas. Radiant Light was in the rear. ->t du six furlong post Rouen took charge, and, rounding the bend for home, he was still in charge, with Amythas coming on the *uter. Amythas won by a short neck, with Grotesque three lengths back third. Sasanof was fourth and Radiant Light fifth. On account of his good run on the previous Saturday Mireusonta was looked to to run well in the Ruahine Handicap, and there was plenty of money for Backsheesh. Mireusonta led at the start, and bit the straight first, with Backsheesh handy. Capping Day became prominent at the distance, and Stylish Lady showed up on the rails. In a great finish up the straight Stylish Lady got up on the rails and beat Mireusonta by a neck, with Capping Day another neck away third. Backsheesh was fourth.
