GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT.

A BUSY WEEK-END.

DEPARTURE THIS MORNING

Their Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and Lady Jellicoe, who arrived in New Plymouth on Thursday evening, and have attended various functions in North Taranaki during their stay, will return to Wellington by to-day’s 'express. On Saturday morning they were tha guests of the Mountain House Committee at the North Egmont Hostel, and from there proceeded to Inglewood and Waitara, where public receptions were held by the townspeople. Splendid weather prevailed throughout the day, and contributed a good deal to the success of the trip. His Excellency was the guest of the New Plymouth Savage Club on Saturday night, and Lady Jellicoe was entertained privately, the hostess being Mrs; C. H. Weston. Yesterday morning Their Excellencies attended St. Mary’s Church, and after the service inspected the graves of soldiers and sailors in the church yard, and also viewed the memorial hatchnien 4 -" in the church. During the morning TT : Excellency also paid a visit to the 'norland was shown over by the harborinas*ter (Captain Waller). Lord Jellicoe displayed considerable interest in such matters as depth of water, charts, and nautical matters generally. Yesterday afternoon Their Excellencies attended the unveiling ceremony of the Bell Block war memorial, and on the return to New Plymouth made a stop at Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Burgess’ residence, Mangorei. They arrived back in town shortly after 6 o’clock.
