BOER WAR VETERANS.
PRIVILEGES PLEA RENEWED. By Telegraph—Preu Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual conference of the South African Veterans’ Association, was held to-day, the president (Mr. J. A. Simson, of Hastings), occupying the chair. Delegates were present representing 2000 veterans from Kawakawa to Invercargill. The majority of the remits discussed bore upon the question of securing for the men who served in the Boer War the same benefits as extended to members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. It was decided to approach the Prime Minister by a deputation to-mor-row to ask him to fulfil his promise tha£ South African veterans, would be allowed the privileges provided under the .Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act. Arrangements were made for a Dominion re-union of South African veterans at Wellington next year.
