DOMINION TOURNAMENT. THE CHAMPIONSHH’ FINALS. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Christchurch, Last Night. The New Zealand gulf championship meeting concluded at Shirley yesterday in the best weather of the week. In the amateur championship, A. G. Sime (Greyanouth), in defeating J. L. Blade (Hutt), played in a manner Worthy of a champion, playing practically without a mistake. In the first round be was never down on bogey. His putting was at times magnificent, and it was in this branch of the game that Black failed. Black was rather indined to slice at times, but when he hit straight he generally outdrove Sime. In the second round, with a lead of 6 up, Sime played safe ana won 5 up and 4 to play.

The new champion, who is a baker by profession, used to caddie as a boy on Balmacewan links at Dunedin. He joined the St. Clair Club in 1913, and two years later won the club championship. He then served on the hospital ship Maheno, and did not tcueh a club till 1919, when he went io live at Greymoutt. He has been three times champion of his club on the West Coast. In the final of the professionals’ match, E. S Douglas (Miramar) beat E. J. Moss . (Auckland) 2 up after a very interesting game. Douglas’ putting was a long way short of his usual form, but in other respects he played well. Moss was at his best in the short game, and his approaching and putting were pretty to watch.
