GENERAL HOLIDAY. To-day being Labor Day and a general holiday there will be no work at the port. Operations will be resumed to-morrow. On account of the holiday the Rarawa will not leave Onehunga till to-morrow afternoon, ar* riving here on Wednesday unorning. AWAITING BERTHAGE. The Whangape, which bad been standing off since Friday afternoon, anchored off the port about 5.40 yesterday morning. She was boarded by the acting health officer (Dr. Home) during the morning, and after inspection pratique was granted. As the vessel is drawing too much water for an inside berth she will have to wait till the departure of the Essex to-morrow before coming alongside. She brings a cargo of timber. RAMA FROM SOUTH. The Rama (Collett and Co.), which arrived from Wellington on Friday, berthed on Saturday morning. She brought 300 tons of general cargo from Duned’n, Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, and will be in port till tomorrow, on account of the fact that to-day is a holiday. KARAMU’S DEPARTURE. The Karaunu did not get away on Saturday as was expected. The discharge of cargo was not completed, about 100 tons remaining to be dealt with. If weather conditions are favorable for working tbe vessel she should get away about noon to-morrow for Wellington. She returns to New Plymouth, via ports, about the beginning of the week after next.
