MELBOURNE MURDER.
RENEWAL OF GANGS’ VENDETTA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn Copyright. Received Oct. 21. 7.20 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. 21. The renewal of the notorious Fitzroy gangs’ vendetta resulted in a man named Oteon being shot in the head in daylight in front of the house of a man named Cotter, who is a member of an opposing gang. It is stated that shooting followed the visit of a number of men to'Cotter’s residence, and there was indiscriminate revolver firing, in which women were wounded. Olson was shot when escaping after en attempt to force an entrance to the house. Cotter was arrested. Received Oct. 21, 11.5 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. 21. Cotter has been charged with the murder of Olsen and remanded for a week, accused’s solicitor stating that he proposed to show at the proper time that there was .justification for the shooting of Olsen, who was one of the most dangerous criminals in the Commonwealth, known to the police in all States*
