BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. TOURNAMENT NEXT SATURDAY. Interest in the Taranaki Boxing Association’s big tournament on Saturday night seems to increase as the day draws nearer. A large crowd gathered at the Workers’ Social Hall yesterday afternoon to see Cadman training for his match with Heeney for the championship (middle-weight) of New Zealand. Cadman appears to be in gfeat form. Local patrons have often asked for something big Jo be staged by the local association, and they will have no cause for complaint this time. The association, at great expense, are putting on the best professional that has ever been offered to a Taranaki audience. In the amateur class a bantamweight bout bas been arranged, the contestants being Donovan (Eltham) and Davis* (New Plymouth). Davis is a lad of promise, and this bout should be a lively one. We are asked to point out to patrons that £1 Is and 10s seats can be reserved at Collier’s without any extra charge for booking, and those wanting to reserve should see about doing so without delay, as a large “house” is already assured.
