The ironsand and oil industries were mentioned in the House to-day by Mr. »S. G. Mr. Massey said he had made «omi inquiry while in England regarding the possibility of developing the ironsand industry in New Zealand. He Would make a statement to the House on the subject, but before doing so he was waiting for a report on the subject from an expert whom the Government had employed in England to make the necessary experiments. That report would be of more value than any statement he could make, as he was only a layman in these matters. If the report did not come to hand by the next mail he Would then make a statement of his own. The subject of oil development was a different matter, and he would make a statement on that subject in the course of a few days.
