LONDON MARKETS. BUTTER MARKET BETTER. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their Loudon bouse, under date October 14:— New Zealand Butter.—Better market, unchanged (last quotation, £lO ss). Cheese.—White, £5 2s per cwt.; colored, £4 12s per cwt. Market slow. Messrs. M. A. Eliott, Ltd., have received cable advice from Gilbert Anderson and Co., Ltd, London, in reference to the meat market: —“Mutton, lamb, and beef markets not much changed; tendency slightly in favor of buyer.” LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited (Hawera branch), report as follows : At Opunake on 3rd inst., wc had a medium yarding of store and dairy cattle. The majority of the latter were only in medium condition and tl:e prices realised suffered in consequence. We quote: Store pigs £2 2s, store ccv.’S to 245, yearling Shorthorn and Holstein hellers £3 2s to £3 18s, Jersey ditto £6 4s, springing heifers £6 5s to £lO cows to £l3 10s. At Manaia on 4th inst., we had only a small entry. Prices at late rates. On Friday 7th inst., at Palmer Road, fat and forward cows made £3 7s 6d to £4 10s, store cows 20s to 30s, grade Jersey bulls 2 and 3gns. to 26 gns.. Shorthorn ditto £3 10s, Shorthorn yearling heifers £3 16s, spring heifers £lO 10s to £ll 10s, cows (medium) £l2. At Kakarainea on Monday 10th inst., springing heifers imade £lO 10s to £l4, calved ditto to £9 10s, store pigs (small) 23s to 275. boar s%gns., sow £3, good conditioned cows £2 4s to £3, others 16s to 30s, grade Jersey bulls 15}£gns., others 4gns. to 7gns., Jersey yearling heifers £6 2s 6d, others £3 10s to £4 6s. At Eltham on Wednesday store pigs made £2 17s, smaller ditto 28s to 38s, grade Jersey bulls to 20gns., Shorthorns sgns„ good conditioned cows £3 to £4 2s 6d, stores 20s io 37s 6d, yearling heifers Jersey cross £4 9s, others £2 to £3, Jersey springing heifers tc £l7, others (inferior sorts) £3 to £6 ss, best cows to £23, others to £l3 ss. Or. Thursday at Hawera we had a good yarding of all classes of stock, the bulk of w.aich consisted of dairy heifers, and the tone for these was exceedingly bright throughout, and practically the whole of the entry changed hards. Store cattle and sheep were on a par with recent sales and ‘satisfactory clearances wert made. We quote: Fat cowg medium £5, good conditioned ditto £2 12s 6d to £4 6s; store 20s to 275, hefers £3 16s to £4 10s eJnsey and Jersey cross yearling heifers £4 Is to £4 12s, others to £2 6s, steers 17s 6d, porkers £3 6s, store £2 12s to £2 17s, .weaners 17s 6d to 235, line of ewes with good y; nibs at foot. 15s Id, springing heifers good £l4 10s to Kl 9 10s, ‘medium ditto £ll 10s to £l3 10s, backward and Inferior £4 10s to £9 10s, cows (good) £l9 10s, medium ditto £l5. On Friday we held our Hawera bull fair. Bulls were yarded in full advertised numbers. There was a good attendance of buyers, and most satisfactory prices were obtained. Grade Jerseys were in Agood demand. The milk of Friesian and Shorthorns were sold In excess of vendors' reserves, pedigree Jersey bulls 25gns. to 26}<.gns, Yearling do 21 gns., grade Jersey Haidem bulls 12gn‘s. to 17gns., Jersey cross £8 to £ll, pedigree Holstein 2-year bulls lOfiits. to legos., grftde do £3 to £5, .Shorthorn* £2 to >
