ENTERTAINMENTS.

WEST END SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT. A full-dress rehearsal was held in the Empire Theatre last night by the children who are taking part in the entertainment which is to be given in aid of the West End School in the Empire Theatre to-morrow night and Thursday night. From the rise of the curtain to the concluding item the whole programme went with a swing that augurs well for the success of the entertainment. The complete programme appears in this morning’s paper, and a glance at it will show the varied nature of the programme. The first half consists of pianoforte duets and solos, costume dances by bevies of girls, who have been well trained by Mr. J. Hoskin, character songs, of which “Baggie Breeches,” by Ella Thomson and Boy Sole is it gem, whilst the inimitable t. Lovell, the Westown comedian, has also consented to give an item. Other items in this half include recitations, songs, and a humorous sketch, “On and Off a Punt,” by Mr. and Mrs. Rountree. The principal item in the second half is the appearance of the We§t End Blackbirds. This screamingly funny christy minstrel show is certain to get a fine reception, with their character songs, rollicking choruses, and jokes galore. Miss Rita Sole is acting ae accompanist.
