In reference to the appointment of New Zealand and Australian delegates to the armament conference there is a feeling of satisfaction manifested here and their reception will be of the warmest. Nowhere in America is Australia's position better understood than in official quarters at Washington, and while Mr. G. F. Pearce (the Australian delegate) and Sir John Salmond (New Zealand) are not personally widely known, it is pointed out that in the case of Mr. Pearce he is a man who nominally oc copied a position supervising Australia’s defence and is particularly suitable to participate in a discussion respecting the limitation of armaments. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
