Received Oct. 16. 5.5 p.m. Washington, Oct. 15, Both President Harding and Mr. Samuel Gompers praised the work of the unemployment conference. President Harding, while pointing out that ba did not expect the conference to settle ell the mooted questions in the nation’s economic life, declared that the conference brought rich rewards to the country's unemployed. Mr. Gompers said that while it is true that certain interests, actuated by selfish motives, had prevented the accomplishment of more signal results, the representatives of the American Labor movement had been able to give the pronouncements of the conference their hearty support, because they were in accordance with the programme of the American Federation of Qj&bor, ana baa already proved of benefit by actual test.
