The advantages of being able to ship live cattle to Great Britain at the present juncture are shown by a private report regarding the arrival and sale in Great Britain of the cattle shipped by the Experimental Farm at Ottawa MacDonald College, and the Alberta and Saskatchewan Governments. The Alberta cattle made a good impression, but would be more siutable for Christmas trade. The cattle from the Experimental Farm did not show sufficient finish. while the Saskatchewan cattle were heavy and could have stood more feed. The "prices realised were as follows: — Ottawa steers: Average, £44 Ils 6d. MacDonald College steers: Average, £44 5’ 6<l. Saskatchewan steers: Average, £44 15s lid. Alberta commercials, £46 IPs 4d; Alberta show cattle, £55 6s Bd. The above figures will come as a surprise to Victorian graziers. The invention of a young Russian. Adrian Semoiloff, has been tested at the London Hippodrome. By means of colored rays the application of the spectrum principle changes scenery, furniture, iind costumes in full view of the audience. The performers wear the weirdest costumes of many colors, neutralised by powerful lights.
