Eleven girls entered as permanents, and 32 as casuals. The necessary beds, chairs and mirrors, authorised at the last meeting had been purchased, also a general helper had been added to the staff. Thanks are due to Mr. Smith, who has given a great deal of time to the care of the garden, to Mrs. Walker for gifts of cushion covers, a rug, and pictures, and to those who have sent flowers and books. A very happy spirit prevails amongst the girls, who fully appreciate the comfort of the house.' It was decided that three extra lavatory basins be installed in a room upstairs, as the accommodation in that respect is quite inadequate, the work to be done as soon after the official opening as possible. Arrangements were discussed for the official opening of the hostel by her Excellency Lady Jellicoe to take place on Friday, October 28. A decorating committee was elected consisting of Mesdames T. C.
