Stock slaughtered for local consumption at the New Plymouth abattoir* in September was 207 cattle, 22 calves, 980 sheep, 2 lambs, and 93 pigs. Compared with September of 1920 this is an .increase of 215 uheep, 2 lambs and 22 pigs, while cattle show a decrease of 18, and calves a reduction if 13. One cow was condemned. The fees earned were £209 5s Bd. The Commissioner of Taxes draws the attention of taxpayers to the notification appearing in to-day’s issue that the due date of payment of land-tax for the current year is on Monday, the 7th day of November, 1921. and that the demands will <be posted on or about the Ist day of November. A detailed advertisement of a clearing sale to be held at Tarata on Thursday next, appears in auction columns. The sale is on account of Messrs.
