Ir is inferred that the slump is due to the outbreak of speculation over the Silesian question. [The rate of exchange should be about 20 marks to £l.] TALLOW AND WOOL. Received Oct. 13, 5.5 p.m. London, Oet. 12. Tallow.—One thousand five hundred and seventy-five casks were offered and 328 sold a- fully 2s decline. Mutton. —Fine, 55s ; medium, 48s. Beef. —Fine, 565; medium, 48s; good itnixed, 48s. At the B.A.W.R A. wool sale there was a small selection of merinos, for which yesterday's good tone was well maintained, prices being fully flrm. Crossbreds sold well, medium slightly dearer. New Zealand Rimuroa made from 13 to lid. THE WOOL MARKET. RISE AT LONDON SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 11th instant: — Wool Sales.—There was a full attendance ar the opening of the sales to-day, competition by home and Continental buyers being spirited, and prices, as compared with the close of preceding series, ruled about Kt per cent, higher for merino and fine crossbred, 5 to 16 per cent, higher for medium and coarse crossbred, and little change for carbonising. The opening catalogues were representative. To-day's offerings were confined to B.A.W.R.A.
