HOUSE-BUILDERS WANTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 12. The need for more skilled tradesmen was stressed by a deputation from the North Canterbury Hospital Board, which waited on the Minister of Health. If sound health was sought more houses must be builf. Private enterprise would build houses if the Government would see that more tradesmen were available. New Zealand could do with ten thousand bricklayers, joiners, plumbers, coopers, iron .moulders, and paperhangers. The Minister said he would represent the views expressed to the Prime Minister. As Minister of Education he was having great difficulty in building schools at a reasonable cost, contractors having told him. that it was very difficult to get tradesmen, especially plasterers. CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. Christchurch, Oct. 12. Donald Scott was charged with manslaughter in the Magistrate's Court today, the ease arising out of a collision between a motor-car and a bicycle, in which the cyclist, James Abraham, received fatal injuries. Scott was remanded till Friday. Bail was allowed.
