INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Oct. 11. A surprise party was given at Mr. Chas. Martin’s home, Kaimata, on Friday last. A large party motored out from Inglewood to Mr. Martin’s,, home, where they were met, by arrangement, by sundry country friends, and a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent. Dancing was the pastime of the night, to music supplied by Mr. K. Lawson, Miss Martin contributing some extras. The duties of M.C. w’ere very efficiently performed by Mr. R. Knofflock, who was careful to keep the ball rolling. During the evening vocal items were contributed by Messrs. Pearce and Sisley, which were well received. The ladies of the party, to ensure the complete success of the gathering, provided a splendid supper, to which full justice was done, and on the strength imparted by it the dancing was recommenced with renewed vigor, and kept up till the wee sma’ hours of Saturday morning, when the guests dispersed for their homes with expressions of hearty goodwill for Mr. and Mrs. Martin.
