FINANCIAL PANIC.
AMAZING CONDITIONS IN VIENNA. PEOPLE STORM THE SHOPS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Oct. 11, 5.5 p.m. . London, Oct. 10. The Vienna correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that the financial panic has been resumed. Customers are now storming the shops in Vienna; they are withdrawing money and buying food wildly, under a fear that the shops may run out of provisions through inability to replenish their stocks. Now that 12,500 kronen go to £1 any people with money are buying stocks before the money becomes valueless. Some are purchasing a year ahead, and many others are feverishly purchasing francs, marks and dollars in case the kronen should become worthless. Shopping has become a bewildering process, for prices may double or treble within a day. Many shops refuse to sell more than a certain amount of goods to one customer.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
