FIRED ON BY RUSSIAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Tokio, Oct. 10. The Russian gunboat Batavia stopped the British steamer Gladys Doeller off Muroran, Japan. a« the «tea«ner was departing, and demanded the surrender of 700 tons of provisions on board, consigned to the Chita forces, Kamschatka. The Gladys Doeller fled to the Muroran harbor, the gunboat- following and firing, but failing to hit. The Japanese dispatched two gunboats to hold the Russians and investigate the affair. The British Consul at Hakodate reported the matter to the Embassy in Tokio, which is investigating.
