FARMERS’ NEW ROLE.

CONTROL OF LEGISLATION. POSITION IN AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 5, 9.40 p.m. Washington, Oct. 4. The Administration is greatly concerned at the growing power of the farmers’ political group, which now controls Congress with over a score of Senators and about one hundred members of the House of Representatives. Administration leaders are unable to direct legislation, and the Senate is now unable to pass the Revenue Bill, anti the House cannot proceed.

It is the first time in American, history that a powerful legislative group has controlled Congress. Only four measures have been passed during the 4ast six months —a billion dollar farm export credit, emergency tariff, prevention of grain exchanges dealing in futjires. and the control of the packing industry. Five other measures to be forced through will all benefit the farmers.
