AMERICA STOPS WORK. DURING THE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph-—Frew Awn-Copyrigtt. Washington, Oct. 4. Resolutions will be introduced in the Senate shortly urging President Harding to atop all work on warships during the Conference. Senators Borah and Pomerene will press the view that the suspension of naval construction during the period of the conference will be a simple act of good faith. . Meanwhile the House Appropriations Committee has virtually decided not to discuss next year’s army and navy appropriations until after the conference: firstly, because of the deaire to avoid the possibility of the embarrassment of the administration by a Congressional debate on armament expenditure during the parte ye; secondly, because future expenditure will be subject to change, according to the success or failure of the conference.
