A LISBON PLOT.
FORESTALLED BY GOVERNMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Lisbon, Oct. 2. A revolutionary plot has been discovered and rendered abortive at the eleventh hour. The movement had been long in preparation and aimed at uniting the military and civil elements discontented With’the Government, principally among the Republican extremists and the political groups who had failed to secure Parliamentary representation. The revolution was planned to start on the morning of October 1. The Premier meanwhile was informed and, employing loyal troops, forestalled the movement. Some of those implicated fled, others were arrested. Order prevails in Lisbon and elsewhere. The Government official note states that the Authorities knew of the movement and took the necessary measures for defence. Those responsible for the plot will be brought to justice.
