MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. UNDEFENDED CASES. A sitting of the New Plymouth Magistate’s Court was held yesterday, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M. presiding. Judgment by default was given in the following cases: Bellringer Bros. Ltd. v. Ernest H. Starkey £1 6s 3d, costs 12s; J. S. Fox v. Tuatini Hopa £lB 15s 6d, costs £9 14s; A. A. Burke v. Putaka Rua £l2 8s Gd, costs £3 Is; Newton King, Ltd. v. Waeware Whare Rangi £42 12s sd. costs £4 15s Gd; Webster Bros. v. John Bishop £3 7s ’Gd, costs £1 12s fid; Collett and Co., Ltd. v. Mrs. T. Jones (against separate estate), £7 10s, costs £1 10s 6d. At the suit of W. D. Graham, E. Clark (Tahora) was ordered to pay the balance of a judgment debt £2 19s forthwith, in default three days’ imprisonment. SECURING POSSESSION. Non-payment of rent was the ground on which the New Plymouth Borough CounciJ sought to secure possession of a dwelling from a tenant, Jessie Malloy. Mr. B. H. Quilliam for plaintiffs, said the xent was about three months in ar’pars. There was no appearance of defendant. After evidence was given by Miss D. Bedford, cashier at the Borough offices, and W. R. Rea, law clerk in the employ of Govett, Quilliam and Hutehen, an order was made for possession to be given by October 15, and judgment was entered for the amount of the rent, £ll 18s 7d, with costs £1 8s Gd.
