MYSTERY OF MAN’S DEATH.
DIES FROM DRINK OF POISON. NOT THOUGHT TO BE SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Sept. 30. The inquest on James Walker, shearer, who died on Saturday has concluded. Deceased was met by a constable in the street on July 22 in a dazed condition and subsequently taken to the hospital. He gave some indication, that he had been given drink by other men, but when interviewed in hospital on several occasions wag very reticent. The Crown returned a verdict that the cause of death was inanition, following corrosive acid. There was no evidence to show how or in what form the aeid was taken or administered. In giving this verdict the Coroner said deceased (who was 49) lived at Core prior to war service and after the war was in a weakly state for a time. It appeared deceased* was keeping something back concerning the night before the police found him. He did jnot think it was a case of suicide, but
