The Labor Mayors memorialised Sir Alfred Mond, urging the release or the Poplar councillors to enable them to attend a conference with Cabinet Ministers to seek an amicable settlement of matters in dispute. Sir A. Mond promised consideration. WORK ON EMPIRE EXHIBITION. London, Sept. 28. With a V’iew to relieving unemployment the Cabinet is considering accelerating the work on the British Empire exhibition. The promoters have received guaraiH tees of £300,000 towards the million required.
