EVILS OF HIGH PRICES.
BUYERS’ STRIKE IN AMERICA. STAGNATION OF TRADE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgtt. Received Sept. 29, 9.30 pan. Washington, Sept. 28. The Emergency Measures Committee on unemployment has decided to ask manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to reduce the prices of their commodities in order to break the so-called buyers’ strike, which, it is contended, has been causing stagnation for months, thus stimulating industry and providing work for unemployed. It is felt that manufacturers, if necessary, should accept a loss on raw materials which they bought at high prices. It is well known that a large class of retailers are maintaining prices at a high level, despite the fact that stocks are moving slowly.
