Christchurch, Last Night, The factorieg in Christchurch have reduced the net price of butter from 2/2 to 2/1 per lb., and the retail rate corres* pondingly declined from 2/4 to 2/3. It is claimed by grocers that they can land the best fact, ry butter from the North Island at 2/- lb. in pats, and consequently they anticipate a further reduction in the factory price in Canterbury. SENSATIONAL RUMORS. BIG REDUCTION EXPECTED. Wellington, Last Night. Sensational rumors are afloat as to ftn impending fall in the butter market. Considerable cutting is said to be going on in the Wellington butter trade, one well-known brand being retailed at 2s per ib. This, it is believed, will lead to other factories supplying the Wellington market reducing their prices. It is understood that a reduction of about 3d will be announced early next week.
