DRINKS WITH SUPPER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London, Sept. 27. Magistrates are. besieged with applications under the new Act enabling hotels to serve drinks with supper until midnight. The new law will operate from to-night and nearly all the hotels, especially in the West End. are preparing for the return of London to it§ pre-war gaiety. INSULATED SHIPS FOR FRUIT. London, Sept. 27. Several refrigerated steamers, usually employed in the Australian and River Plate trades, are being sent to the Pacific Coast to bring Californian apples, via Panama. They will also carry dried fruits in cold store and possibly hops. U.S. SUBMARINE SINKS. New York, Sept. 27. A telegram from San Pedro states that the submarine R 6 sank at her moorings. Two men were drowned. The cause is unknown. PORT AUGUSTA FIRE. Capetown, Sept. 27. The fire on the steamer Port Augusta has been completely extinguished. The coal and a portion of the cargo is being unloaded.
