PUKEKURA PARK.

RE-TURFING SPORTS GROUND. Preliminary work in connection with the re-grassing of the sports ground at Pukekura Park is to be put in hand immediately by the sports committee. Today a number of men will commence the work of cleaning up the drain®, and the plough will be put in on Monday. After the ground has. been turned over it will be brought up to its proper level, and where there are any depression® the top will be taken off and a filling of clay put in, the surface soil then being replaced. The whole area will afterwards be given a top-dressing of about two inches of black soil, and grassed down. The operations should be completed in about a fortnight or three week*, and the committee hope to have the field ready for representative football next season, though it is not likely it will be available for club matches. The actual ploughing will not be commenced till next week and the ground will be available on Saturday when, it is understood, a couple of house matches are to be played.
