BOXING.
TARANAKI CENTRE. A meeting of the Taranaki Centro Boxing Committee, was held at Now Plymouth last night. Mr. E. Whittle presided, and there were also present: Messrs. R. Barlow, R. Paul, N. Howell, E. Jackson,>J. Kurta. Stagpoole and J. Garcia (New Plymouth), F. Casey (Eltham), and A. H. Nelson (Stratford), and E. Clarke (secretary). A letter from the eouonci) was received conveying the resolution passed by the conference to the effect that all boxers must be licensed, amateurs to pay 2s fid annually for a license, which expired a year from date of issue. The license of professionals will expire on Decembere 31 of each year; 2A per cent, was to be deducted off the winners’ and losers’ end of purses. The Centre Committee was to be responsible for seeing that all boxers were licensed, and fees were to be sent to the council, and would be utilised for payment of travelling expenses of championship teams. Members considered that some proportion of the fees should be retained by the centre and utilised towards defraying the expenses of running the centre, delegates to which had to travel from Stratford and Eltham to attend the meetings. It was considered that the matter should be brought before the next conference. It was resolved to -write to the council asking how it was proposed that centres which were doing a lot of the council’s work were to carry on.
